Easy Aloo Paneer Tikki Recipe

How to make Aloo Paneer Tikki
Here’s how you can make a lip-smacking snack that’s soft inside but crisp outside – aloo paneer tikki. It’s quick to make and great for packing into tiffin boxes or even as a party starter. Ready in minutes, using just basic ingredients mostly available in kitchen pantries, this an excellent recipe for busy mornings when you need to prepare a quick breakfast or fill tiffin boxes for your family.
To make aloo paneer tikkis, the quantity of potatoes needs to be slightly more than that of the paneer. To make paneer patties however, the quantity of paneer should exceed that of the potatoes. Do check out my post on paneer patties where I have also explained how to make paneer easily at home, and how to make paneer burgers with the paneer patties.

250g potatoes (2 large potatoes) boiled and peeled
200g paneer, grated / crumbled
1 small onion, chopped
3 green chillies finely chopped
¼ cup chopped coriander
¼ cup grated carrot
½ tsp oregano (optional) / ½ tsp pepper powder
½ tsp chilli powder
½ tsp ground cumin
1 tsp amchur powder / 1 tbsp lime juice + ¼ tsp amchur powder
½ tsp chaat masala
½ tsp salt
2 ½ tbsp cornflour /maida / oat flour
A little oil or ghee for frying
And here are the ingredients for making a tasty mint chutney to go with the tikkis.

1-inch piece ginger, sliced
A small ball of tamarind, soaked in 2 tbsp hot water / 1 tbsp lime juice

Grind everything with a little water.

Procedure
- Grate/mash the boiled potatoes.
- Grate or finely crumble the paneer.
- Mix the two, and then mix in all the other ingredients.
- Shape the tikkis and fry with very little oil or ghee till they turn reddish-brown on each side.
- Cool a little before filling into tiffin boxes.
- Or serve with a topping of whipped yogurt, mint chutney, and red chilli sauce or tomato sauce.
