The star of this recipe is the mouth-watering famous Goan recheado masala. It can be made in a jiffy. To learn how to make it, please check out my recipe on recheado bhendi or stuffed lady’s fingers.
Ingredients
2 Mackerels
Around 6 tbsp Recheado Masala
A little salt
¼ cup rava
¼ tsp turmeric powder
¼ tsp chili powder
Oil for frying
Procedure
1. Clean the mackerels.
2. Wash them and slit them. Make a vertical slit above the level of the middle bone along the length of the back of each fish, on one side, to create a pocket. Turn the fish over and make slanting superficial cuts across the breadth of the fish around an inch apart on the other side.
3. Apply a little salt to each fish including inside the pocket and into the slanting cuts. Set aside for 15 minutes and then wash the fish again.
4. Add a sprinkling of salt to the fish. Stuff the masala into the pocket created in the fish and also into the slanting cuts. Apply a little masala to the outside of the fish and also inside the head area and the hollow space below it. Let the fish marinate for 10 minutes.
5. Mix the turmeric powder and chili powder into the rava.
6. Roll the fish in the rava, and fry on medium-low heat in oil for around 3-4 minutes on each side. Remove the fish to a plate.
Enjoy!
