Ingredients
1 can tuna chunks in spring water 180g
2 medium-size potatoes (150g)
(Boiled and peeled)
2 medium-size onions, finely chopped
1 large tomato, de-seeded and chopped
5 medium-size green chillies, chopped
1 ½” piece of ginger, crushed
4 garlic cloves, crushed
¼ cup breadcrumbs
(0R 2 bread slices, soaked in water, squeezed)
2 tsp sour lime juice
½ tsp turmeric powder
1 tsp pepper powder
Salt to taste (approx. 1 tsp)
½ cup chopped coriander
2 tsp red chilli sauce (suggested)
(OR any hot and sweet sauce)
½ egg, lightly beaten
Breadcrumbs (for coating the patties)
Oil for shallow frying
Procedure
- Open the fish can, drain the water, and transfer the tuna to a bowl. Shred the tuna with a fork, so it’s no longer chunky.
- Next, mash the boiled potatoes.
- Chop the onions as finely as you can.
- De-seed and chop the tomato finely.
- Then, to a mixing bowl, add the shredded tuna, mashed potatoes, chopped onions, and chopped tomato.
- Add in the chopped green chillies, crushed ginger and garlic.
- Next, add the breadcrumbs and lime juice, and mix everything well with a spoon or spatula.
- After that, add the turmeric powder, pepper powder, coriander leaves and salt to taste. Mix everything well using your hand and adjust the taste of the patty mix if necessary.
- Finally, lightly beat an egg and add half of it to the patty mix. (You could use the remaining egg for something else.)
- Mix everything well, and divide the patty mixture into 8 equal portions.
- Then, shape each portion into a patty and roll it in breadcrumbs.
- Shallow fry the patties till golden brown on each side.
