It&#8217;s a classic Goan dish. Today, I&#8217;m going to show you how to make a soft chicken meatball curry. Do check out my recipe for <a href=\"https:\/\/veenapatwardhan.com\/pat-a-cake\/2021\/06\/05\/fragrantgoanchickenxacuti\/\">Goan chicken xacuti<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/Y5wIBHU34yo\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<h3><strong>Ingredients<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><em>For the masala mix<\/em><\/p>\n<p>2 tsp crushed ginger<\/p>\n<p>2 tsp crushed garlic<\/p>\n<p>1 tsp turmeric powder<\/p>\n<p>1 tsp ground cumin<\/p>\n<p>1 tsp garam masala<\/p>\n<p><em>Mix and divide into 2 parts<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><em>For the meatballs\/koftas<\/em><\/p>\n<p>250g ground chicken breast<\/p>\n<p>\u00bd of masala mix<\/p>\n<p>\u00bd tsp salt<\/p>\n<p>\u00bd tsp ground pepper<\/p>\n<p>2 green chillies, chopped<\/p>\n<p>\u00bc cup coriander leaves, chopped<\/p>\n<p>2 tbsp onion, chopped (\u00bd small onion)<\/p>\n<p>2 tsp cashew nut paste \/ 1 \u00bd tsp oil<\/p>\n<p>\u00bd tsp regular chilli powder<\/p>\n<p>2 tsp lime juice<\/p>\n<p>\u00bc cup fresh breadcrumbs (from 1 fresh bread slice)<\/p>\n<p>\u00bd egg<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><em>For the Curry<\/em><\/p>\n<p>5 cloves<\/p>\n<p>8 peppercorns<\/p>\n<p>3 green cardamoms<\/p>\n<p>1&#8243; piece cinnamon<\/p>\n<p>2 bay leaves<\/p>\n<p>\u00bd cup finely sliced onion (1 medium -size onion)<\/p>\n<p>Remaining \u00bd of masala mix<\/p>\n<p>1 \u00bd tsp Kashmiri chilli powder<\/p>\n<p>1 \u00bd tsp regular chilli powder<\/p>\n<p>2 tsp coriander powder<\/p>\n<p>2 &#8211; 3 tbsp water<\/p>\n<p>\u00bd cup tomato paste (2 medium size tomatoes)<\/p>\n<p>\u00be cup water<\/p>\n<p>\u00be cup thick coconut milk<\/p>\n<p>\u00bd tsp sugar<\/p>\n<p>\u00bd tsp salt<\/p>\n<p>Chopped coriander (garnish)<\/p>\n<p>2 tbsp oil<\/p>\n<p><em>Makes 10 meatballs<\/em><\/p>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-875\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/veenapatwardhan.com\/pat-a-cake\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/Soft-Chicken-Meatball-Curry.jpg?resize=500%2C400&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"Soft Chicken Meatball Curry\" width=\"500\" height=\"400\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/veenapatwardhan.com\/pat-a-cake\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/Soft-Chicken-Meatball-Curry.jpg?w=500&amp;ssl=1 500w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/veenapatwardhan.com\/pat-a-cake\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/Soft-Chicken-Meatball-Curry.jpg?resize=300%2C240&amp;ssl=1 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/p>\n<h3><strong>Procedure<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ol>\n<li>We&#8217;ll start by making the meatballs.<\/li>\n<li>Wash and pat dry the chicken breast. Then grind it in a mixer-grinder \/ food processor.<\/li>\n<li>Coarsely grind the onion, green chillies, and coriander leaves.<\/li>\n<li>Mix this with the ground chicken along with the salt, pepper, \u00bd the masala paste, cashew nut paste, regular chilli powder, lime juice, breadcrumbs, and the egg. Mix everything well. Cover the mix and keep it in the fridge for 30 minutes.<\/li>\n<li>Grease your palms with oil and shape the meatballs. Cover them and keep in the freezer for 10 minutes and in the fridge for around 30 minutes.<\/li>\n<li>Heat the oil. Saute the whole spices \u2013 cloves, pepper corns, green cardamom, cinnamon, and bay leaves on medium heat.<\/li>\n<li>Add the onions and saute this till it browns. Add the remaining \u00bd of the masala paste, coriander powder, regular chilli powder, Kashmiri chilli powder, and 2 &#8211; 3 tbsp water. Stir everything and let it cook for 2 minutes. Add the tomato paste and stir the mix. Cook for 2 minutes.<\/li>\n<li>Add the water, stir the gravy and bring it to a boil. Simmer for a minute and then add the coconut milk. Stir the curry again, let it simmer for 2 minutes, and then add the sugar and salt. Adjust the seasonings if necessary. After that, carefully add the meatballs to the curry. Do not stir the curry at this stage. Cover the vessel and cook the meatballs on medium-high heat for around 5 minutes.<\/li>\n<li>Take off the lid. Tilt the pan around to swirl the contents so that the meatballs get well covered with the curry. Flip the meatballs with a spoon, and then ladle some of the curry on them. Cover the vessel and cook the meatballs on low heat for around 15 minutes more or till the meatballs have cooked. Usually, chicken meatballs will cook within 20 minutes. Don&#8217;t overcook them.
