Clean the mackerels.<br \/>\n2. Wash them and slit them. Make a vertical slit above the level of the middle bone along the length of the back of each fish, on one side, to create a pocket. Turn the fish over and make slanting superficial cuts across the breadth of the fish around an inch apart on the other side.<br \/>\n3. Apply a little salt to each fish including inside the pocket and into the slanting cuts. Set aside for 15 minutes and then wash the fish again.<br \/>\n4. Add a sprinkling of salt to the fish. Stuff the masala into the pocket created in the fish and also into the slanting cuts. Apply a little masala to the outside of the fish and also inside the head area and the hollow space below it. Let the fish marinate for 10 minutes.<br \/>\n5. Mix the turmeric powder and chili powder into the rava.<br \/>\n6. Roll the fish in the rava, and fry on medium-low heat in oil for around 3-4 minutes on each side.
